Classical bathroom design ideas

Freestanding traditional baths and vanity units, and vintage style bathroom accessories.

Vintage style bathroom design never goes out of fashion; roll-top baths and traditional vanity units are beautiful and timeless. Opting for a classical bathroom scheme doesn’t mean that you have to compromise on performance either; there are many ranges that combine cutting-edge innovation with a traditional look. Here, we present a number of pieces and design ideas: read on to discover freestanding traditional baths, vintage style bathroom accessories, vanity units with marble tops, and more.

Traditional vanity units

Adequate storage is an important part of any bathroom space; it will help you keep the room clutter-free, and make your daily rituals easier and more enjoyable. Perhaps the most important piece of bathroom furniture, when it comes to storage, is the vanity unit.

The Romea traditional vanity unit (pictured below) combines functionality and elegance. Available in either Satin White or Matt Dark Grey, the Romea vanity-and-basin unit comes in three widths; from 600mm to 1000mm, to fit most bathroom spaces. It features two generous drawers and the collection also includes matching mirrors.

Another option is the Carmen collection’s Unik vanity (the Unik option means that the basin and base unit are combined). Combining heritage with the latest innovation, the vintage-inspired look of the Carmen range is a tribute to Roca’s iconic basin from the 1940’s. The 800mm wide Carmen Unik traditional vanity unit (pictured below) features two drawers, and comes in two finishes; Dark Grey and Matte White.

Vanity units with marble tops will bring a touch of luxury to a classical bathroom. This type of base unit allows for an on-countertop or in-countertop basin, and will give you countertop space around the basin, to display and store your everyday essentials. The Carmen vanity unit (pictured below) features a marble top and plenty of storage. With a generous width of 1300mm, there is space for two drawers and two hinged doors; perfect for a family bathroom.

Freestanding traditional baths

If space allows, a freestanding traditional bath with ball-and-claw feet is a lovely addition to a vintage-style bathroom. The Carmen collection includes an elegant roll-top slipper bath which is available in six different external finishes. Manufactured from cast iron, it will retain the heat of the bathwater for long periods of time, allowing you to completely relax and unwind.

And if you prefer a double-ended design, the Eliptico freestanding traditional cast iron bath is the tub for you. Guaranteed to become a focal point of the bathroom, it is available in six external colours and you can choose from three designs for the feet. Pictured below is the Eliptico bathtub together with basins, a toilet and bidet from the Carmen collection.

Vintage Style Bathroom Accessories

Last but not least: accessories. Items such as soap dispensers and toilet roll holders are sometimes considered at the last moment, towards the end of a bathroom renovation. However, by giving some thought to accessories early on in the project, you can make sure they fit the design of the bathroom perfectly. When it comes to traditional design, there are plenty of vintage style bathroom accessories on the market.

The Carmen collection includes accessories for all your needs: from robe hooks and towel rails, to wall-mounted toilet brush holders and soap dishes. Combining polished chrome and vitreous china with traditional design details, the Carmen vintage style bathroom accessories will bring your classical design scheme together perfectly.
