How to replace your toilet seat
If the toilet seat fitting in your bathroom has seen better days, changing the seat, or simply updating some spare parts will increase the life of your WC and give it a fresher, more hygienic look and feel. Even if DIY isn’t your thing, the good news is it need not be a chore, regardless of whether you have wall hung, close coupled or back to wall toilets. Here’s how to identify the seat that you need, whether you need a soft close toilet seat or a square toilet seat, and how to easily install it…
How to identify your toilet seat
Often the model of the toilet seat is printed on the inside of the toilet seat lid, so you will be able to identify if your toilet is from the Ona, or the Inspira collection for example. If you have a close-coupled WC, try to locate a 6 digit code on the cistern lid which can then be identified in Roca’s product care leaflet. For wall hung or back to wall toilets, or if you’re still having trouble identifying your toilet seat fitting then contact Roca’s customer service team who will be able to find the right seat for you.
Choosing the right seat
Ranges such as Ona have a variety of options compatible with their wall hung, close coupled and back to wall toilets, including compact seats for their smaller WCs or a soft-close toilet seat for optimal longevity and noise reduction. Or seats developed from Supralit®, with Roca’s innovative antibacterial properties, available in both the Ona and Inspira collections. The Gap collection has the same soft-closing options for its round and square toilet seat, also with slim and compact options.
Innovative materials
Consider the option of a Supralit® seat, Roca’s exclusive resin with antibacterial properties, like those in the Ona and Inspira collections. The innovative material is four times less porous than a typical toilet seat and cover, ensuring better hygiene, while the antibacterial treatment eliminates bacteria from its surface. With rounded edges it’s smoother and easier to clean, and provides improved resistance to chemicals and UV light, offering increased durability and less chance of discolouration. Supralit® seats are also available as a soft close toilet seat.
How to change a Roca seat and cover
Some of Roca’s newer collections, such as The Gap Square and Ona, have quick release hinges to make changing seats easier than ever before. And thanks to Roca’s standard and soft close toilet seat hinges on their other collections, using just an allen key, the toilet seat fitting takes less than 30 minutes to change for a new one. Below you will find a simple video tutorial showing all the steps to be followed, of which we have summarised also.
Remove the old seat, then to replace, simply insert the plugs into the holes at the back of the toilet bowl, then using the allen key tighten the bolt and washers. Simply push the seat onto the bolts pushing in the sides, then release to secure in place. Then tighten with the allen key with the seat up, then lower the seat and cover and adjust again if needed.
What if you only need a spare part?
Spare parts are easily accessible from Roca and we are proud to stock an extensive range. Replacing the hinges, fixings or seat buffers is much more sustainable than replacing the seat or even the whole toilet. Firstly, narrow down your search by recognising the type of toilet you have – is it close-coupled? Or does it have a concealed cistern behind the wall, that’s used with wall-hung and back to wall toilets? Once you identify your toilet you will be able to find the list of parts available to purchase directly.
