Timeless countertop and coloured basins for your bathroom renovation

It’s sometimes overlooked, but a well chosen basin is capable of transforming the style of a whole bathroom. Deciding whether to install a wall-hung, over countertop, vanity or floor standing basin like the totem column, is an important decision and can set the tone for the rest of the bathroom space. From the most innovative materials to coloured versions and original shapes, in this article we share the story behind four of our favourite Roca basins.

A re-invented version of a Roca classic from the 1940s, Carmen is the name of Roca’s vintage bathroom collection fit for the 21st century. Manufactured in white vitreous china, Carmen’s classic style basins come in different shapes; from the traditional vitreous china pedestal or a wall-hung version, to countertop models and Unik (base unit and basin combination) vanity options.

A minimalistic collection that’s capable of adapting to different styles, Inspira basins are available in three variations: Round, Soft and Square. These basins are manufactured in Fineceramic® (a porcelain material exclusive to Roca,) which enables the creation of products that are 40% lighter and, at the same time, 30% more resistant than traditional vitreous china. Available in the classic white enamel and Matt White, the Inspira range also offers a choice of coloured basins: Beige, Coffee, Pearl and Onyx. Its delicate design makes a big impression in its over countertop version. There are also alternatives for under countertop, wall-hung and vanity installation.

Conceived by celebrated Brazilian designer, Ruy Ohtake, the Ohtake basin is a Red Dot Design Award winner and a true work of art. With organic lines inspired by nature, and the perfect outline of an egg, an Ohtake basin can completely transform a bathroom. Produced in Roca’s exclusive Fineceramic®, these basins are particularly resistant, yet their wave-like walls look delicate. Available in White, Matt White, Pearl, Onyx, Beige and Coffee, its outline looks perfect as an over countertop installation. Two models are available: an oval shape (540x375x185 mm) and a more rounded one in (375x375x175 mm).

The innovative design of the Beyond basin will appeal to those who are keen to push design and aesthetics a step further. In perhaps its most striking iteration, the Beyond totem basin is a robust one-piece structure with a solid design, rounded outlines and a deck for brassware. Manufactured in Fineceramic® vitreous china in White, Matt White, Beige, Coffee, Grey and Onyx, its charismatic design is also available in a wall-hung version with integrated semi-pedestal, as well as countertop and over countertop models. In the Matt White finish, the wall-hung and Unik vanity versions are manufactured in the Surfex® mineral composite material, which allows the creation of custom pieces with several bowls.
